The Sonian Forest (French: Forêt de Soignes) is a large forest in the center of Belgium, southeast of the capital Brussels. It is about 4400 hectares. Since 2017, five parts of the three integral forest reserves (one area in the Zwaenepoel reserve in the Flemish Region, two areas in the Grippensdelle reserve in the Brussels-Capital Region and two areas in the Ticton reserve in the Walloon Region) in the Sonian Forest are part of Unesco -World Heritage Ancient and prehistoric beech forests of the Carpathians and other regions of Europe. Enjoy the picturesque surroundings and take long walks through one of the most beautiful forests in the region. Overijse is a town and municipality in the Belgian province of Flemish Brabant and the district of Halle-Vilvoorde. The municipality is located in the heart of the Druivenstreek and is part of the Dijleland region Visit the 16th century Bisdom castle with its 12th century towers in the center of Tombeek.
